Who Needs an Immigration Medical?

Hello and welcome to Canada! We hope you are doing and well and are here to help with the immigration process! Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada aka IRCC may require you to see a panel physician such as Dr. Tony Salopek to conduct a medical exam during the immigration process to Canada. This exam is designed to get an understanding of your general health and determine if there are any major health concerns. Please bring a list of any medications you’re currently taking and notify us of any past or current medical conditions that required treatment from a physician specialist.

If you plan to visit Canada for six months or less, you are usually not required get a medical examination unless you are planning to work in the public health sector. A medical exam will be required if you plan to visit Canada for more than 6 months.

a medical examination includes any or all of the following:

  • a physical examination

  • a mental examination

  • a review of past medical history

  • laboratory tests

  • diagnostic tests

  • and a medical assessment of records respecting the applicant.

Medical exams are required for

  • Permanent Residents

  • Refugees

  • Work Permit, Visitor and Student Visas Medicals Available
